The programme is aimed at providing the wider construction trades sector with work-ready people able to enter the construction trades as a labourer or an apprentice who have developed essential transferable skills and underpinning knowledge applicable to a wide range of construction-related trades.
Entry Requirements
English Language Requirement
Applicants must have sufficient competence in the English language to undertake this programme of study which is taught in English. Students intending to enrol for training are assessed on their language, literacy and numeracy abilities to determine their capability to successfully undertake the training and determine whether any additional support is needed.
Education Pathway
This qualification may lead to higher-level qualifications in carpentry, joinery or another construction-related allied trade such as New Zealand Certificate in Joinery (Level 4) (Ref: 2343); New Zealand Certificate in Construction Related Trades (Level 4) (Ref: 2381); New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4) (Ref: 2738); and New Zealand Certificate in Painting & Decorating (Level 40 (Ref: 3568).
Employment Pathway
Graduates of this programme will be able to enter employment in trades within the construction industry as a labourer or an apprentice.
