FAQs

Are my tuition fees safe?

Lifeskills will give you an acknowledgement form that outlines the conditions of the trust account. In the unlikely event that Lifeskills is unable to deliver the programme you have enrolled in; your fees are protected with Public Trust. Your fees are kept safe under the care of Public Trust and are protected by a government guarantee.

Fee Protect process for Domestic Students:

  1. You sign the acknowledgement form, and Lifeskills will send it to Public Trust.
  2. You deposit your fees into the Public Trust account, using details given to you by Lifeskills. Note that you can also request a receipt through them.
  3. Public Trust establishes a Student Fee Trust Account in your name.
  4. Public Trust makes payments to your provider over the duration of your course, in line with NZQA’s Student Fee Protection Rules and the Education and Training Act.

This arrangement has been accepted by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority as meeting the requirements of the Education and Training Act 2020 and the Student Fee Protection Rules 2022.

I have studied previously. Is there a possibility of cross-crediting into a Lifeskills programme?

Yes. Credit Recognition and Transfer (CRT) is the process of awarding credit towards your chosen program at Lifeskills for courses which you have already studied at other tertiary providers.

CRT is assessed individually. Recognition of credit from your previous study depends on whether there is a direct match between learning outcomes from the courses achieved with the learning outcomes in Lifeskills courses and whether the level of previous study equates to your intended Lifeskills programme. CRT applications and all necessary evidence must be completed at the time of enrolment.

What happens if you don’t pay fees in time?

We will remind you if your fees are overdue. Lifeskills may withhold your final academic transcript, and you will not be eligible to receive your qualifications until outstanding charges are paid in full.
