Gagana Sāmoa is more than a language.
It's identity, culture, and connection. This 5 week beginner programme offers a welcoming space for anyone ready to start or reconnect with their Samoan language journey, whether you grew up in Aotearoa or simply never had the chance to learn.
Through interactive sessions weaving together language and the Fa'asamoa, you'll build practical skills and a deeper understanding of who you are and where you come from. No prior knowledge needed.
Over the course, you'll build a strong foundation in Gagana Sāmoa through interactive sessions that blend language learning with cultural understanding.
Starting with the basics of pronunciation, the alphabet, and everyday greetings, you'll progressively develop your ability to hold simple conversations, introduce yourself and your family, and navigate real-life situations with growing confidence.
Throughout the programme, you'll also explore the Fa'asamoa and its values, learn the difference between everyday and respectful language, and strengthen your sense of identity and connection to your heritage. The course wraps up with a shared celebration where you'll put everything into practice alongside your classmates.
