Lifeskills is proud to join the Māori and Pasifika Trades Training (MPTT) Auckland whānau, expanding access to culturally grounded trades training for Māori and Pasifika learners across Tāmaki Makaurau.
As a registered PTE with strong community roots, Lifeskills delivers practical, hands-on training that reflects the cultures, values, and aspirations of the learners we serve. With campuses in Māngere, Henderson, and Papakura, we currently offer pre-trades programmes in Automotive, Electrical, and Carpentry.
Manu Palelei, our General Manager of Growth and Partnerships at Lifeskills, says the organisation’s learner-centred approach is key:
“We embed tikanga and the Pasifika way. We meet learners where they’re at—and we don’t turn anyone away,”.
Joining the MPTT whānau strengthens our ability to provide wraparound support for learners aged 16–40 who are Māori or Pasifika, through:
- Culturally grounded training environments
- Small class sizes and strong pastoral care
- Pathways into apprenticeships and employment
- Support from MPTT Navigators to guide learners every step of the way
This partnership is about more than just expanding programme options—it’s about strengthening opportunities, identity, and confidence in the trades.
MPTT Project Manager Sam Sefuiva says the partnership increases learner choice and belonging:
“It means more options for our Māori and Pasifika whānau, both where they can study and what kind of environment they’ll be learning in,”
We’re honoured to walk alongside MPTT in creating a future where Māori and Pasifika learners can thrive in trades careers that are meaningful, sustainable, and aligned with their values.
